In a debate she will likely demolish Trump on his protectionist BS if he keeps it up. Trump's whole fair trade scam is mostly just fluff, when he has to talk about it in depth or is pressed by somebody knowledgeable it gets ugly for him.

With Hillary being a protectionist herself right now, I'm curious how she'd demolish him.  They pretty much agree.

She can still pivot into some kind of middle sane ground on trade.

The problem Donald has is that he has no idea how to do anything different, his idea of substance on trade consists of saying the word deal over and over again.

Touché, LOL.

Donald Trump is "a free trader. The problem is we're getting ripped off." There is no better 'middle ground' than that.

Kind of like how the middle ground of a donut is a big empty hole.

If he was a free trader he wouldn't run around screaming protectionist scare tactics every time he talks about trade. He would be able to build a compelling case for why free trade is important and why we must stand against those that are in the way of it.

The problem is Donald is only able to scare and rile people up, he is incapable of offering any real solutions.

I hope.

The last thing we need is TWO candidates singing the false song of protectionism.
Clinton will sign TPP, no doubt about it. What worries me more than the candidates espousing protectionism is the American people believing it's the right solution. That's terrifying.

Perhaps in her 2nd term, after renegotiating parts of it. If she plans to run for reelection, she will not do that in her 1st term.

My personal opinion is that if she agrees to any trade deal, it won't be the TPP. The name itself is toxic to large portions of the public and the narrative on this needs to be changed to avoid a backlash. Believe it or not, but presidents tend to stick to most of their campaign promises, or at least try. There are notable exceptions, but not enough to immediately say with any justification that she'll just sign it posthaste.
