Trump (along with the entire GOP field) is as authoritarian as Hitler, and Clinton is politically more similar to Ron Paul than Bernie Sanders. Discuss.

I mean it's not as bad as when they claimed (as part of their "everybody is always getting more right-wing all the time hypothesis") that Labour in the 70's was more left-wing than in the early 80's, but still...

Also wasn't Obama in 2012 much further right and upwards than Hillary? And people normally say that #SHrillaryTehNeoliberal is right of Obama? Weird.

Trash.

Also:

Also, thinking that Sanders is right-wing is insane, and that's not because I think he's a commie who's going to take America to the Marxist revolution -- I actually like his ideas on healthcare.

Half of their write up is about how Sanders is an Obama style imperialist. But at the same time they think Obama is as authoritarian as Robert Mugabe while they rank Bernie Sanders as more libertarian than every other world leader. Huh.

I fixed it to make it more accurate and relatable to this election season:

Bernie should be in the left libertarian quadrant. Hillary can stay in the right authoritarian quadrant, but should be closer to the center. The Republicans shouldn't be all in the far corner.

Why does the Political Compass think every western politician is a conservative (as evidenced by every election chart they've ever released)? Did Green Party hacks create this?

No, they tend to put the Green Party as being only slightly on the left.

The political compass in itself is trash so it's hard to work around that.

This is correct. Sibboleth posted a good take down a couple years ago, but I'm having difficulty finding it. The main points were:

1) A lot of the questions were worded in such a way as to produce left wing answers (e.g. "Should globalization serve multinational corporations or people?" Basically every free marketeer would agree that question is a false dichotomy)

2) They never release what they answered for candidates to place them on the spectrum, presumably because they never did the quiz and arbitrarily placed candidates on the spectrum, or because their answers would have contained sketchy results.

3) They've condensed the entire range of right wing politics in the West today to a mere dozen or so squares in the top[ right quadrant, rendering comparison meaningless.
