I would be more willing to put money on the idea that Rubio will lose the primary this year, run for Governor of Florida in 2018, win, and run for President in 2024 after two terms of Hillary.

Lose the primary to Trump?

If Trump wins the primary, and Rubio comes in 2nd or 3rd ahead of the many governors running, what the hell is his incentive to run for governor? (Unless of course, it's a big paycheck and he doesn't have to show up.)

The establishment side of the field certainly seems to be clearing for him, but that doesn't mean he'll be able to overcome the anti-establishment sentiment this cycle.  He also has to actually beat Clinton, he's probably the best Republican to do so but that doesn't mean the general election is his.

Don't get me wrong, he's in a good position, but there are still a lot of obstacles in his way and a lot of time for things to change.

Maybe. I think Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, and Mike Huckabee are also equally likely to win the primary against Rubio. He will now almost certainly become the party establishment's choice, but it should be clear by now that the establishment has lost all control.

To be an executive at the state level and continue his political career outside of the legislative body he despises; possibly to open up a run in 2024 after the GOP has gotten its act back together.

He would immediately be branded a carpetbagger/opportunist by his primary opponent. The opponent's biggest attack line would be that Rubio wants to run for president again in 2020.

Anyway, I'd say Rubio's the most likely GOP nominee at this point, but the general election is still a toss-up.

Little Marco Polo did alright, but he ain't steppin' near 1600 Penn. That house is reserved for two particular candidates on that stage.

Who?

For Real Men™ TRUMP and Cruz! Marcy Marc belongs in a preschool -- not the White House. We need strong leadership, not immaturity.

My estimation is Rubio will be the GOP nominee and then lose in a record low turnout squeaker to Clinton.

But Trump is the very definition of immaturity. And the way that Cruz has conducted himself in the Senate is also the very definition of immaturity. So honestly I don't see your point at all. Trump even admitted during last night's debate that his greatest weakness is his level of immaturity (AKA once he gets mad at someone, he can never get over it nor forgive them, which in my book (and probably in most others' books as well) is the very definition of immaturity).

My estimation is Rubio is the nominee and after a few TV networks prematurely declares Clinton the victor, in a lower-than-average turnout election Rubio wins as Republicans come out in droves to vote for Not Clinton.

All this paragraph proves is that you're not aware of what the phrase "the very definition" means...

So what does the very definition mean then? Tongue I thought it meant what you could look up in an encyclopedia or on Wikipedia, and sometimes even on Urban Dictionary lol, yet I might be wrong. Wink

"Not fully developed or grown."

I'd say Rubio certainly qualifies!

Immaturity is a psychological quality, not a physical quality I'm afraid. Rubio does have a problem with thirst/sweat every once in a blue moon he has to do a State of the Union rebuttal, but other than that I can't see that he is psychologically very immature in any way. Smiley (Now to explain this a bit more: Thirst/sweat in a moment of intense pressure is a reaction to nervousness, obviously, which to my knowledge is a form of immaturity and a sign that you're not quite up to the task in front of you.)
