Objectively speaking, Byrd. Subjectively speaking, Rockefeller. Went with the latter, as I'm in that kind of mood.

The pro-choice Republican > the Klansman.

Now that's just being disingenuous and you know it.  You're better than this.

And you're being hypocritical, considering the whole Helms and Thurmond and Allen thing you've got there.

And unlike Thurmond or Helms, Byrd unambiguously and explicitly recanted everything he ever did, and even eventually became an ally to the NAACP.

So yeah, think what you will...but the Klansman angle is not a good one to go on.

I have NEVER supported Strom Thurmond. EVER. He was trash, like Byrd, imo.

I have also never said that liberals and progressives don't have a right to like Byrd. But, the moral outrage has often been on Helms while white-washing Byrd.

I will apologize for my posts praising Helms. His stance on AIDs and LGBT rights was horrible, as I have alluded to in past posts. I will admit that it is extremely selfish, and hypocritical, for me to point out positions that Helms held that I consider to be positive (support for Reagan, opposition to abortion and switch from Anti-Israel to Pro-Israel).

Helms, like Byrd, Thurmond, and others were not good people.
