No. Be rational. People should be able to own almost all types of guns, but there is no practical use for a machine gun in peacetime.

Indeed. How do you think Switzerland stays out of trouble when they have no army. Smiley

Undecided, but inclined to agree with Lunar.

yeah.  You never know when there'd be an angry mob trying to storm your house.  Either that or you'd need to defend your marijuana supply from the FBI.

It is hilarious that many of the same people that want to ban strip clubs, porn, or prostitution want the sale of machine guns to be legal.

Maybe because they feel that machine guns are reasonably safe while that other stuff erodes society?

I mean, I disagee with them profusely, but it isn't hypocrisy.

I imagine a rapid hail of bullets could erode society pretty quickly.

Sure, if the result of legalizing machine guns was that everyone would instantaneously run out into the street and start firing at everyone else, you would be correct.

However, that's just absurd.

You know, it's not even that hard to turn one of those 'assault weapons' under the Assault Weapons Ban that just expires, and turn it into an automatic. Any criminal could figure that out, and yet, I don't see too many rapid fire shooting sprees going on in my neighborhood.

People are scared too easily. It's all in your head; machine guns are not dangerous, and will not lead to chaos. Switzerland is not a land of terror, and Finland citizens do not engage in random shoot outs at random times of the day.

That's because those country's don't have the same kind of social environment that we do. The conflicting cultures in this country are more deadly than anything Finland has.
