Freedom Law, and only law enforcement officers and employees/proprietors of public businesses should be allowed to demand to see your permits. Lord knows we don’t need more George Zimmermans.

Under this law neither of those groups can ask to see a person's gun permit.

I want to start a fund to provide as many black people as possible with guns, training and permits, and give them a per diem to walk around Cobb County with their guns.

We'll see how long that law stays on the books.

I support gun rights, but this law goes way too far.

HL. That would honestly make me fearful to set foot in that state. The only time I've ever set foot in Georgia was beyond airport security and that's how I'd like it to stay.

I don't think mixing guns with alchohol (bars) or prayer (churches) is a good idea. I support gun rights, but this is honestly more of a political stunt more than anything and goes too far. I think individual entities should decide their own gun restrictions, much like smoking bans or the like. Lean HL

Horrible law, of course.

But in a sick, detached way I look forward to seeing how it pans out regarding crime when compared to other states in coming years.

In a few years when gun rights become more restricted, I would not be surprised if this law will be seen as when the gun groups overreached.

Under the Georgia law, churches and bars are allowed to prohibit guns if they choose to do so...

I'm not a big fan of this. Guns should be kept away from churches, schools, courts, airports, federal buildings, certain parks and forests. In cities they should be concealed at all times except for law enforcement. Guns are an essential part of our freedoms, but they're not idiot proof.

If we're going to start banning the possession of and display of firearms in public places, we should start with the most dangerous users of guns: the police force.
