One of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. While I was sub-supervising yesterday and sitting at the guy I was subbing for's computer.

*someone walks by*
Guy: Oh I guess you are Aaron today?
Me: Yeah, he's at a funeral.
Guy: So is this your music you're playing or his?
Me: It's mine, I ripped some of my CDs because I'm not fond of his. *somewhat jokingly* Besides I thought he could use some Christian music on his computer to cancel out all the Marilyn Mansion and black metal.
(That album I was listening to then was the only Christian one I had ripped.)
Guy: What the hell, this is Christian music?
Me: Yes it is.
Guy: But how can it be? It's nothing but loud noises and screaming!

I facepalmed after he left.

Why would it belong in the Deluge?  Because you used the term 'ripped'?

BRTD, people who associate Christian music with loud noises and screaming are a very, very, very small minority. The comment may not be perfectly informed about every aspect of the subculture in which you ensconce yourself, but it's hardly absurd, more-than-trivially ignorant, or bad. If it's one of the most ridiculous things you've ever heard, I can't believe I of all people am saying this to you of all people, but you need to get out more.

But why CAN'T Christian music consist of loud noises and screaming? What is inherently un-Christian about that? I mean this is the song I was listening to:

I mean yeah it's not exactly easy to make out the lyrics, but there is nothing inherently un-Christian about that.

But the second part might be right considering how many people I know who are non-Paulite Republicans or who voted for McCain and/or Romney.

I'm not denying that it's dumb; I'm just saying that I don't think the attitude towards Christian music or what Christian music 'should' sound like that it expresses is dumb or unfounded enough to be Deluge-worthy.
