Who would win in an election under these circumstances:

Cain wins Iowa, loses New Hampshire, but manages to ride his train all across South Carolina and Florida, gaining a sizable victory. He manages a chain of wins afterward, making him the nominee. As nobody sensible wants to be his running mate (Rubio, Jindal, Christie, etc.), Gingrich is tapped for the position.

Meanwhile, due to the ongoing Eurozone crisis (Greece defaults, causing a Lehman-style event), the United States has slipped back into recession, and further economic chaos is forecasted. Unemployment stands at around ten percent.

Furthermore, assume that Cain continues his string of gaffes at the same pace.

Narrow Cain victory

10% unemployment is 10% unemployment, even against a terrible GOP ticket.

Ahem, I think you're missing something HUGE!!! Gingrich and Cain are living in Georgia. That means, either Gingrich goes back to PA and becomes a resident or Cain goes back to TN and becomes a resident!

America's economy booms as soon as Cain is nominated, signifying the end of racism in this country, combined with summer excitement over the worldwide release of The Dark Knight Rises and favorable summer temps from the end of la nina.

In short, the recession ends.

Obama wins. At best it will be close. But Cain will have too many gaffes. Gingrich will help by defeating Biden in a debate, and they'll be on the same page for most issues, but Cain just couldn't do the general election.

Reverse it and Gingrich takes the cake...Cain will LOSE due to lack of knowledge on major issues. Shame- he is a good man.
