In fairness a place like England would NEVER have Sara Palin as a prime minister.  They would NEVER let someone that dumb be the head of a major political party.  She can't last 10 seconds with Katy Couric (a blond former cheerleader!).  Can you imagine prime ministers questions?  Cheesy

Hysterical. I often thought the same when W. was president. And Reagan too.... Grin

I doubt many Presidents, even the best, could've done PMQs very well.

I dunno about that my friend.  I refer you to Obama's  200,000 campaign rally in Berlin!  I don't think there would be too many British prime minister hopefuls that could pull that off Wink  I would love to see some backbencher stand up and say you ain't $h-t to his face in the Commons after that performance.  You should check out the White House correspondence dinner too.  Ok, ok even a backbencher is a more worthy adversary than Donald Trump but that week was beautiful.  Releasing the birth certificate, dismantling Trump at the White House correspondence dinner and then dropping the coup de grace by having SEAL Team Six pop Bin Laden in the face and his b-tch in the leg.  Game, set and match!  And all with a laugh track.

Now Sara Palin... well her grade would be somewhere south of an F-.

But anyway I get your point.  Prime Minister's Questions is a Tour de Force for which our system simply does not prepare.

I agree. It requires a level of debating skills that practically don't exist in the U.S. A massive political rally such as in Berlin as a laughable comparison and is nothing like a parliamentary debate.

Teleprompters are not permitted at PMQ's, for one thing.

I disagree vehemently. Remember Obama's live tete a tete with GOP House members? He utterly tore them a new one to the point Fox (unlike the other networks) cut it off midway to return to the studio. Clinton? The man was and is as sharp a mind and debater as you could find.

Yes, but there are libel laws in the UK.  You can't just wake up one day and say so and so wasn't born in the USA.  Trump, Bachmann , Fox News, Huckabee would have all been hauled into court a long time ago if they were in the UK.

Obama is actually a very good debater.  Unfortunately we live in a country where you can just make up nonsensical stuff and repeat it over and over again.  This type of behavior is simply against the law in other countries.  If there wasn't the rampant misuse of sound bites I'm sure you would see much more free flowing conversations.

Didn't Obama take questions from Senate Republicans once? He did pretty terrifically.
