Yes, I think it's important that the people writing our laws know what they're doing.
So only the rich can represent us?
Ideally, which was the key word in my first post just as it is here, an affordable college education would be an option for all Americans.

Didn't see that.  Nice dream, but I still don't see a reason for a requirement.  And it's not like our more educated members of Congress are doing any better a job.

If anything, we should make a requirement that members of Congress must forfeit all existing financial assets for the duration of their time serving, and make them live on $30,000 a year in a low-class area of Washington DC, and then see what kind of legislators we get.  I'll bet that it will be a much better improvement than having a formal education requirement.

Or better yet, just build a large block of Soviet-style apartments just for members of Congress.

I'd much prefer an IQ test.

And drug tests, criminal background searches, and perhaps drug testing would also be a good ideas.
