"Government has become so vast and impersonal that its interests diverge more and more from the interests of ordinary citizens. For a generation and more, the government has sought to meet our needs by multiplying its bureaucracy. Washington has taken too much in taxes from Main Street, and Main Street has received too little in return. It is not necessary to centralize power to solve our problems."

Libertas, that quote is right on. Keep the tentacles from Washington out of America's heartland.

Good, I'm glad you agree. I had previously thought you were a Bush Republican who favored a centralized police state.

Why is it a "stupid quote by a stupid man"?

Because it's always easy to say Government takes too much and gives too few, it's just basic populist rhetoric. The reality is that America has one of the lowest tax rates of western countries, and that the means the States has are nothing compared to what he would need in order to ensure basic equality and soical justice.

So the centralized state needs to steal and waste more money in order to make you happy? Why do you get turned on by high taxes and big government?

I really wonder why the hell I answered to you initially. If in your little brain you like to think that taxing means stealing, if every time someone disagrees with you your only answer is BIG GOVT= EVIL!!!, then I can do nothing for you. Hopefully you'll finally go away or get banned.

In other words, you have no answer to give.

Good game, Tony.

I have no answer because nothing you said was worth an answer. But you are free to think otherwise if it makes you happy.

I just asked you a simple question. Why can't you just answer instead of being rude?

The second question you asked was something of a loaded question (though in actuality it probably would not be a loaded question to a social democrat like him), but I must agree that Antonio's response was rather uncalled for.

No I'm more of a Goldwater/Reagan Republican. Where do you fall on the spectrum?

I would expect such a naive statement from the author of this:

What does that have to do with centralization?

It wasn't McGovern's fault that majorities in 49 states were stupid enough to support Nixon over him.
