I did some volunteer work with Dave Mejias's 2006 Congressinal campaign against Peter King.    I would have liked to have done some more volunteer work in the past, but my work schedule which usually had me getting home between 7:30 and 8:00 prevented me of doing so.  Now that I'm out of work (depending on how long) I might get involved again this year either with Mejias's re-election campaign (even if I move out of his LD), perhaps Suozzi's re-election campaign.

If I wind up moving down to South Carolina with my parents (who are moving within weeks) its unlikely I will have any involvement.  Also my political beliefs will make it much harder for me to get somewhere in the SC suburbs of Charlotte (even though it has drifted a bit leftward) than here on Long Island.  One thing that has kept me away from it is the pay scale which tends to suck when you just start out, though after being laid off from the financial sector and it continuing to be a mess might be more open to it as far as a career path.

No.  All too often, politics brings out the worst in people.

No, too lazy/apathetic.  Not attractive.  Have ethics.  Poor verbal communication skills.

The bolded points never stopped anyone before, and ethics is the first thing to go.

I'm involved with lots of local campaigns that ultimately matter very little to the everyday lives of those around us but which the people involved in nevertheless get very angry and silly about.

Well given that I do hold elected office, I guess I am politically involved

I don't think that Pol Sci degree will help much.

Well, that and/or a Law Degree.  I do have time to think about it, though. Smiley

I'm legitimately interested in Pol Sci (I read and understand scholarly journals in the field), but it's all white noise among Pol Sci majors, so I'll probably do History instead.
