http://www.politico.com/blogs/anneschroeder/0209/King_will_come_to_Shulers_defense.html

This week Rep. Heath Shuler admitted that the stimulus should have been done on a bi-partisan basis, saying “I truly feel that’s where maybe House leadership and Senate leadership have really failed.” This, as you can imagine, didn’t go over well with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s camp. His spokesman Jim Manley, on the record, went to that go-to stop with Shuler, questioning his football talent. (Shuler was a disastrous NFL QB at best.) “Let me get this straight – this coming from a guy who threw more than twice as many interceptions than touchdowns?” Manley said in response.

When Shuler heard about this post he said: “Those interceptions are proof that I am willing to work with both sides.”

Conservative retard. Even if he did beat Burr, he'd just vote like Ben Nelson, so what's the point?

Because Ben Nelson is better than Richard Burr. The problem would be if the Democrats could nominate a more liberal candidate for North Carolina and still win but went with Shuler anyway.

not that it matters

Its good to know not every democrat worships at the altar of the messiah.  And Shuler is right...there was absolutely nothing bipartisan about the bill.
