Well yeah, $35k at 22 with no kids and no degree would be great.  But that's not what we were talking about.  We were talking about a 30 year old with a BS degree making $35k a year and spending it all on crap.  That might seem like a dream to you, but it sounds retarded to a lot of people.

everything is subjective, bro

Of course.  I'm not saying a person can't or shouldn't live that way, I'm just suggesting it might not be the best way to go, something to shoot for or be proud of.

I should clarify. I would support my son if he were either A or B.  Both A & B have their problems but that hypothetical son is still my son and I'd have to support him either way. Son A I wouldn't like for his promiscuity and I would try my best to discourage that sort of behavior. Son B, I'd worry more then not like his actions. I'd worry that he'd fall short on his bills but it wouldn't matter because I'd help him out.

If the only criteria I have to go on is a couple examples of social choices, and economics, then I choose B.

Person A.  Because he seems to be more successful and is probably happier than Person B.

Person A, for sure. The sleeping around part I might have a little problem with but other than that he is who I would want as my son in a perfect world.

Person A. Education is very important, unless he goes in mining. Not much education, big pay.

Person A, as the more educated one.

Educated, not necessarily intelligent. A just sounds like a shallow dickhead.

He'll settle down, eventually.

Person A obviously, but hopefully he wouldn't stay that way forever.

A. He seems to be much more low-maintaintence than B. Sure B has settled down, but he probably can't take care of his kids as well as he should. He hasn't really achieved much in his life and he seems less likely to be happy. A at least has a succesful job and social life....he won't ask me for money and won't cause me to worry. Although, A really should settle down.

Hmmm....makes me wonder how I will be at 30. I am turning 24 this year, getting my Law Degree, already have a Bachelor's degree. Getting ready to move to the city. Already been through one marriage. Already have a kid. Don't know how to get laid outside of a committed relationship...really wants to settle down. I want to get married and get a job for my child's sake, but am not sure if I want to settle for the first girl that wants to marry me. The way I see it, I shouldn't feel bad that my parents are taking care of Lily...they seem to be enthusiastic about it and it gives me a chance to finish school. Many people say that I am pulling a douche move, including my best friends and brothers, but have decided that they won't influence my plans. However, my parents are getting ready to retire and I feel I should have a close relationship with my daughter. The way I see it, I have two years to get a job and a relationship with a future....for Lily's sake....My parents will only allow me to have Lily totalily back when I have settled down. My parents have even talked to me about the woman they would like to see me marry. They think I should marry someone older...someone that will take care of Lily and I. They say that if I had to settle, I should sacrifice intellegence before looks because I would probably prosper more in a relationship where there are more traditional gender roles. Gee...sorry for making you guys have to look at this...this just...gee...brings a lot to my attention.

Person A.  Because he can still settle down, get married, and have children if he really wants to..

I know Person B a hundred times over.  They probably represent a quarter of my graduating class...
