Needs to be more accountable. It's a crime that under Rumsfeld we had 3 years of completely bungled war-management and no one has been held to account.

The appointed leadership often sucks and sometimes the Pentagon can be burdened by politics, but as a whole FD.  And they need to pay their contractors more.

(when I see "FD" I think 3rd Generation RX7)

Sure they have.  Rumsfeld was sacked and the GOP has been taken to the cleaners in the last two elections.

HB. We spend far too much on it and get far too little out of it. If you conservatives mean what you say about spending less, start here.

Politics does not constitute accountability. He got fired, sure, but he has not been held accountable for the actions he promoted and the stupidity he partook of. He forced dissenting generals out to pass his agenda through without much resistance.

The entire administration has been let off the hook to a large degree and losses for Republicans should not be the sole punishment.

What else would you have in mind?  What recourse do the American people have, past voting them out of office?

Agreed.  So long as we're sure to cut where it's wasteful (for example, the Air Force tanker McCain reminded us so much about).  An across-the-board cut wouldn't be wise.
