The impact of the Huns on migratory patterns and so on (and it was those migrations that really set the tone of the age) was immense, of course. But had nowt to do with Attila. There is really nothing notable about Attila; a stereotypical nomad-king-maniac and nowt much else.

One could say the same of Theodoric and Odoacer, and Pope Leo I is only as significant as Attila the Hun makes him. Theodoric is at least a tempting choice, though.

One could say the same of Theodoric and Odoacer,

You could do, more or less. Especially of Odoacer. Theodoric is slightly more interesting, so I voted for him.

(actually the real reason for the vote is the Şiğrekssaga. heh.)
