In fact, if Obama wins, I have a feeling its his fans who will be the most disappointed.

Considering he's promising them the world, they probably will be. They won't be able to understand why he can't end the war, make the Middle East peaceful, provide a great life for every American, etc ..

If he does win, it may be the best thing to happen to Republicans, because if he screws up or underperforms, the GOP is in prime position to gain massive seats in congress in 2010 after the Dems max out after this election, and then united and fired up for the 2012 election.

Hell, maybe I need to support Obama for the good of the GOP!

Very disappointed, but not "crushed". I understand what an uphill battle 2008 was...but the good news is if we lose...we probably only lose by a narrow margin, which means the unbeatable Democratic year of 2008 was not unbeatable.

One reason why I want McCain is that the next 4 years will be long, and changing for me personally. Later this year, I'm going to go into the U.S. Air Force...and I want my commander-in-chief to be someone I have a strong connection and genuine respect for. I have that connection and respect strongly with McCain.

If in 2008, Obama wins...I honestly don't think he'll be that good a President and I can see 2010 and 2012 being pretty big Republican years.

I also really don't believe that Obama would be a good President. His heart may be in the right place on a lot of issues but I think he's promising way too much and people are expecting the world out of this guy.
I actually agree. I just think the alternative is much worse. I might even just stop posting here if McCain wins.

No, not crushed, but very disappointed, because McCain is clearly the one with the more moderate record dealing with the other side, and especially since Congress will be Democratic, I'm worried that Obama will shove his left-wing agenda down our throats. It's too tempting and too easy to push your own agenda through when you have all three branches of government under control by one party. I would rather have Congress and the WH be of different parties. I didn't like it when Republicans had all three branches (no accountability), and I sure as hell will not like if the Democrats control all three branches.

Whoever wins in 2008, I think we'll be electing the 45th president in 2012 regardless.

If elected, Obama will probably be a weak leader, and will most likely lose to a more conservative candidate in 2012, whoever that may be.

If McCain is elected, he'll be a one-termer either because he'll decide not to run again, or because the nation will be so tired of a Republican WH that Dems have to win, or else probably not win for a LOONG time. It's next to impossible for one party to win FOUR elections in a row.

Disappointed that the first black President of the United States is such a ... a ... nothing. He will only make the challange of nominating a substantial black candidate that much harder.

As for McCain, as long as stops the Democrats' Tidal Wave, even if only for a single term, he will have served his purpose in history.

Not really, I strongly expect Obama victory.  I guess I would be a little disappointed in the sense that Obama would be a horrible president - if he wins this time, we'll probably win in '12.
