According to Wikipedia, the Senate Majority Leader, Republican Joseph Bruno, would become acting Lt. Governor.

This is why you shouldn't get your information from Wikipedia.

Uh, I believe that's the case.

Every major news source I've heard from today has said that Paterson would be sworn in.

As Lt. Governor?

Oh, ok, that's nice. I'm pretty sure Zeus mentioned Bruno being Lt. Governor though.

Oh. Sorry. lol. I missed the Lt. for some reason. I still wouldn't really trust wikipedia for infromation though, especially regarding breaking news stories.

It regards the line of succession which was likely on Wiki before the news.

I'm just defending it when it is reliable and in this case it was. The NY line of succession wiki article has nothing to do with today's news.  Tongue

I checked on Wikipedia just after the whole thing broke and they listed Spitzer's occupation as "pimp". I got a good chuckle out of that one honestly. But anyway, for what it is worth I heard that Bruno would become Lt. Governor somewhere else as well, wish I could recall where.

The Clinton's are experienced in sex scandals and how to deal with them (see: The Spitzer endorsement for Hillary never existed). Just too bad for the Republicans, who are now gloating, that this happened in NY State, where Mike Gravel will win by at least 30% in November.

Unless Hillary is also one of the clients, I doubt it.

Unless Hillary was the prostitute, I doubt it.  Although you never know.....

Spitzer's wife is actually very good-looking. What in the world, according to your thesis, led the Governor to accept Hillary's services as prostitute ?

No - it's unrelated and shouldn't hurt her, IMO.

Will she resign her Senate seat in time so the people of New York will be able to elect her replacement?  Or will she in effect blackmail Spitzer in order to get him to appoint her choice?

Not directly, but subconsciously maybe: this reminds people of the old style of politics which they hate and which Hillary represents. Also, spitzer had backed her campaign though he hadn't been a vocal supporter.

Will she resign her Senate seat in time so the people of New York will be able to elect her replacement?  Or will she in effect blackmail Spitzer in order to get him to appoint her choice?

HuhHuh??

it would make no sense to resign her senate seat until after she gets elected. Even if she gets the nomination, which I would say is at best a 30% chance at this point, her victory in the general election would be FAR  from a foregone conclusion, and better a lengthy career in the senate than nothing.
