As I said before, I don't think Edwards adds anything whatsoever that Obama doesn't already have.

Yes, on the grounds it keeps someone like Bayh off it.

If I can't have Edwards on top, yes.

Yeah. I hope Obama doesn't pick some conservative Democrat to appeal to independents. Because independents just looooooove conservative Democrats.

I actually kinda like the sound of an Obama/Feingold ticket.  Both men seem very genuine.

Obama / Biden would seem a natural ticket (if Biden wants it and stops putting his foot in his mouth).

I don't know whether Edwards would want to try playing second fiddle again.

The problem there is that we no longer have Feingold in the Senate. And he's by far the best man in that horrible place.

I concur with Erc. Obama/Biden '08!

Biden might be too old to run in 2016 (he'd be 74) so it could set up another completely open contest if he was picked.

True enough.  Maybe he can pull a Lieberman and run for both at the same time! Wink

This is the problem.

If Obama's the nominee, it requires a VP with very solid and diverse experience and that leaves Obama picking from a small group of people - most of whom you can't imagine running in their own right in 8 years time. Dodd ? No Biden? No etc etc. He should also lean toward a moderate.

Which means he has to take a slight risk with his VP choice unless he want to have another 2008 in 2016.

Absolutely not.  Obama needs to counter the perception that he is light on foreign policy/national security experience and deal with the experience question in general.  Edwards does little for him on either front.   Especially if you have Giuliani playing the 9/11 card over and over again.  Or McCain with his military background (though the chances of him getting the nomination is unlikely).  Edwards failed to carry any Southern states for Kerry and he won't get any for Obama either.

Haha. Obama is already secured his second term now? You're in for a surprise.

I'd love the ticket; it would that Huckabee has a chance of beating.

No; either way Biden wouldn't be running in 2012 because Obama would be the candidate (assuming he wins in 2008).

Richardson meets a lot of the criteria, but Biden would be awesome too.

So what the hell do independents like, then?  I thought independents were supposed to be independent and come from both sides of the political spectrum, not die-hard liberals.

The problem with Richardson is that he's corrup he has a record of behaviour that may (or may not) be somewhat ethically questionable.

I don't think Richardson will be able to get past the fact that he's been such an awful candidate since he entered the nomination contest.  He's the Democratic Rudy Giuliani, beginning the answer to every question (including "what's your favorite card game?") with "I'm a Governor..."

This is the first I'd heard that he's corrupt, but I have no trouble believing it.
