I think I heard this on the Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer on CNN Friday evening at 6:00 pm Central.

What is your view of this?  Do you think the children have as much right to be schooled in America as American or legal immigrant children do?

As for me, I choose support/Democrat.  The reason is, if we school these children, they have a chance to be a responsible citizen and might have an easier time gaining citizenship in the United States.

Yes (D)

I'm in favor of a nearly competely open immigration policy, so I think these children should just come to the US and stay here.

For some reason the idea of someone sneaking across the border every day to go to school is kind of amusing to me.

Yeah, well... as the moderator of this board I can't really share my feeling on that matter.

Wow, you have to be oblivious to not see the downside to this.  Normally, children go to public schools with tax money their parents give to keep the system running.  Now, this creates more students but no more tax revenue.  Citizens takes go up, disposable income goes down, economy suffers.  It is pretty simple why this should not be allowed

Agreed, Their parents don't live in the country and therefore don't pay taxes an their childern are sneaking into the country to accept state-payed educational and social services, This shouldn't be allowed at all.

I vote R-No.

I think the real question is how the hell they managed to register.  There should at least be minimal checks on that sort of thing.

Wow, I feel really bad for these kids. Its a shame that they have to go through so much to get an education. I cant imagine not having that opportunity. Granted, they shouldnt be doing what theyre doing, but its such a terrible shame that its even necessary. Sad

If the schools in the states along the Mexican border are as bad as the ones in Kentucky, why would they even want to cross the border every day to go to school?

Yes.  And I was a student at the University of Salzburg for one semester at a cost of EUR742,00.  I can guarantee it costs more than that to educate a student for one semester, but the Austrian people were kind enough to offer me a spot at their university for a very very reduced price.

You can't argue for a global economy and free trade if you want to partition certain factors of our economy (education) by country.
