Debs without a doubt, the best presidential candidate we've ever had. It's a shame he couldn't make it work with Haywood or De Leon though, and I also have to respect Roosevelt for standing up for progressivism as much of a critic as I am of him.
De Leon’s ego and conservative outlook made such a thing impossible. Anything of note by De Leon was already adopted by the Bolsheviks anyway.
Debs while being a man of the left, supporting revolution and communism as a goal, was still an SPA apparatchik and deeply loyal to the party. If only he could see where the wind was going and go for the CPA, but it was an event not to be.
