Cops who refuse to do their jobs and deliberately ignore citizens in need should be thrown into prison. In a case as severe as the Uvalde cops that let all those kids get shot, I'd support a death sentence.

I don't care how tough the job is or how mean the local officials are, if you're a cop and you're unwilling to protect and serve, then the least you can do is stop mooching off the taxpayers you're refusing to defend. Absolutely disgusting, and shame on anybody who defends such dereliction of duty.

You are right, they should still do the job. But they want people to get out of the way, so they CAN DO THEIR JOBS. Stop second-guessing everything and analyze the info when it comes about about a specific shooting.

Imagine a liberal cop having done this when, say, Bloomberg was elected. You can't, b/c democrats just do their jobs. Republicans always have to inject their politics into other people's lives.

You serious? The liberal teachers and college professors don't inject their politics too?

They can do their jobs. The thing they're complaining against is imputability and oversight. They want to be able to do a bad job and not suffer any consequences for it.

What about prosecutors that deliberately don't do their jobs?  Kim Foxx is elected to prosecute crimes.  She deliberately does not do so in selective cases due to concerns about "disparate impact" on favored groups and such.

Police should intervene, period, when people are being assaulted, regardless of the nonfeasance of the prosecutor, because they can at least stop the injurious behavior.  That's better than not letting it go on.  But no one in their right mind would be a cop in Chicago today, because the situation is out of hand, and both Foxx and Johnson are squarely on the side of the criminals.

What is needed is investigations to see who is influincing these prosecutors to not do their jobs.  The biggest winners of their nonfeasance are criminal street gangs, which are large criminal enterprises.  If the people doing the shooting were folks that looked and sounded like the Mafia everyone here would be down for that.  What, exactly, is the relationship between the remorseless criminals that make up Chicago's criminal gangs and those that are supposed to arrest them and prosecute them, but do little but make apologia for them?

I pretty regularly voice my opinions on prosecutor and how I consider them to be some of the most evil and destructive men and women in this country so you're not going to find me defending some bleeding heart prosecutor.

You say that no one in their right mind would be a cop in Chicago today. I agree with you and have a lot of sympathy for the many good cops who I'm sure have thrown in the towel and retired or moved on to a different city or a different career altogether. My sympathy does not extend to the cops who stay on the job for the paycheck but then refuse to protect and serve. They and the bad prosecutors are heads of the same beast and are directly responsible for the sad state of this country's major cities. They should be considered accessories to the crime wave sweeping the city and if they had any decency they would get on their knees and beg the innocent people of Chicago for forgiveness, and pray to God for mercy because they deserve none from the people whose lives they've destroyed through their inaction.

I agree with the underlined portion.  Will you support them if, in enforcing the law, they are subject to frivilous lawsuits, putting at risk all they have worked for?

Chicago PD deserve the support of law abiding people.  They are now being asked to work in a city which lacks real Civil Peace, and the Mayor and the State's Attorney is supportive of the criminals.

I'm not sure if you're referring to a specific case that I'm unfamiliar with, but if you're suggesting that Chicago cops are being sued for stopping an assault because they "trespassed" or some technicality like that then yes I would support them.

Dead serious. Liberal teachers teach their students how to think; conservative teachers try to force their students what to think.
