John Heinz (R-PA) died in a plane crash on April 4,  1991. John Tower (R-TX) died in a plane crash the very next day.

Two Senators (though Tower had been out of office since 1985), two Republicans, two Johns, two plane crashes, two consecutive days. Which of them was better?

Heinz, though Tower was actually quite decent by Southern Republican standards - certainly a better man than Phil Gramm.
