Should the European Union declare the Republican Party as a terrorist organisation?

Specifically with regards to:
- The GOP failing to condemn gun violence
- The GOP failing to condemn coups / terrorist attempts on the state (if they are commited in their interests).
- Polarizing / deliberately spreading hate towards certain people & groups for political purposes.

Not specifically as an organization that does terrorist attempts, but as one that consistently fails to condemn it, and therefore are a threat to world peace.

And specifically targetting the Republican Party and other groups / media sources of the fringe alt-right, not targetting the US. You might not like Joe Biden for several reasons, but at least he isn't a threat to world peace.

In my view organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas are no different from the Republican Party.

It would be a strong message and a signal to the American voter that European countries no longer wish to work together with Republican candidates on a global stage, to let them know that a strong America with European friends should be encouraged to vote Democratic (or at least not Republican).

For Republican candidates with good intentions, this could be a drive to start a third party or go independent (like Romney or Kinzinger for example).

This would basically be a declaration of War against the US at least whenever we have a Republican president and I’m sure you don’t want to go to war against us .

This is a staggeringly bad idea that would probably only serve to drive a deep wedge between America and Europe. Most Americans don't vote with the purpose of maintaining positive relationships with Europe in mind, and those that do are already monolithically Democrats.

At this point this is just a pretty dumb idea.

However, given that Putin has already done the unthinkable this year and the possibilty of a Trump-like presidency in the future I would actually say that there is a non-zero percent chance that this is something that could happen at some point in the future. The Republican administration in question would have done something really, really bad though.

Hopefully the people voting yes are trolling cause you guys know that doing this would be an act of war against the United States and you would easily lose any such war .

No but they should declare the Proud Boys as such, as Canada has done.

The GOP is not a terrorist organization. Even if it was, designating it would only lead to its members forming a new party. In the best case scenario for them, the establishment and populist members would disagree which would lead to a Dem trifecta for the remainder of the century, much like Mexico during the 20th century. In the worst case scenario, it could lead to a global slowdown as trade would be suspended and China/Russia would become the lone superpowers, something that would be terrifying in a geopolitical sense.

Does the EU even have that ability? I would imagine those kinds of declarations would fall on each member state.

What the EU could do perhaps is some sort of non-binding resolution in the EU parliament. Which would be 100% ineffective other than harming US relations for no reason

Voted option 4. But at the rate at which it's going, I will say the Republican Party soon will be. (Nonetheless, the comparisons to Nazis and the Taliban are idiotic, ignorant, insensitive and pathetic.)

I'm seeing a lot of blue posters listing negative consequences for declaring their party a terrorist organization. But they have not provided any argument that the designation would be inaccurate.

That would just lead to Russia and [possibly] China  doing the same for Democrats., and the consequences of that would be hideously bad.

It is obvious that the US Republican Party is one of the major forces for evil in the world today.

I regard this as a totally incontrovertible and indisputable fact.

Its what all the objective evidence points to, those disagreeing are in denial.

I wouldn't say this about any other major right wing party in a democracy, btw.

(unless Fidesz counts, possibly)
