UAE, Pakistan and S. Arabia are the only countries to recognize them in the 90s.

Tasmania recognised them and said if they don't sort their sh**t out with women, they are not playing cricket in Australia.

Short and to the point like most Tasmanians.

The fact that the US government and others have had official/quasi-official interactions with the Taliban both before and after withdrawal is de facto recognition.

USA probably will be first to officially recognize them, since no one will if USA doesn't. And China won't either because of Turkestan.

If i were leader of the US i would recognize them, solely because the Taliban is better than ISIS, and what happens in Afghanistan is none of our business... We have no objections towards what the Saudi's do as well, and recognizing Taliban will minimize the threat of foreign terrorism if we work together. Befriending Afghanistan could also destabilize Russia and China on top of that, from a strategic perspective since they border both countries (and border Turkestan/Uyghur regions).

With diplomacy, more can be achievable, and compromises can be made through diplomacy. The Taliban won't turn into a democratic organization or that respect all human rights, but at the very least as I say with diplomacy, we will achieve most if we pick what is important to us (the right for women to study, anti-terrorism cooperation). The Taliban hates IS-K as well, that can unite us. The Taliban is also a sunni organization, which can be beneficial towards Iran and Turkey. This is a typical example: the enemy of our enemy is our friend, and by making sure the Taliban recognizes that terrorist acts operating from & inside their country is a bigger enemy than the west, just like that terorrist acts against the wests is a bigger evil for us than whatever happens inside Afghanistan.

Perhaps it'll be Pakistan, but it seems as if China is very eager to begin forming a relationship ASAP.
