Probably into savings. I really need to get that money working though, so probably into an investment account by the end of the year. I’ve already gotten a new laptop and am assuming I’ll lose out on plane ticket money that I had bought March 1st or so of last year, so that covers the other stimulus checks.

I wonder if random Austrians will also get the US stimulus checks again, like under Trump:

Buy a laptop and put the rest towards my postbacc.

Though I doubt I'll actually get it. I didn't get any of the checks last year even though my income was very low & and I wasn't a dependent.
If this is the case, the Internal Revenue Service would be happy to work with you. I actually missed out on the initial $1,200, but when I filed my income tax return, they included an extra $1,200 on my income tax refund, as a credit. Your situation should be identical to mine, only you might be eligible for up to $1,800 in additional income tax credits when you file.

Looks like I got around $1400 today for being a dependent. Hopefully, that can be bumped up closer to $1800 once I file my taxes. Still, much more than I was expecting to get (Which I guess was $0)
