Undecided on whom to vote for, but McCain wins. There's no way Feingold carries Indiana or Ohio, even if Evan Bayh is on the ticket. If Feingold was lucky, he might break 45% in Indiana.

Overall, I'd say Vlad's scenario looks about right. Maybe switch New Hampshire to McCain.

John McCain - 52% - 313 EVs
Russ Feingold - 47% - 225 EVs

I personally would swallow my vomit and vote for McCain. Feingold is to far to the left for me to bear. McCain's war experience and reputation as a moderate (though he isn't one) would be enough to topple the leftist Feingold.

Ditto on the assessment and your reasoning!

McCain wins, everybody knows that would happen. He's just not winning on this poll because it's "who would you vote for".

Although the forum has a reputation for being more moderate/conservative?

It has a libertarian slant more than anything.

It used to be very libertarian (and I remember you bitching about it months ago Tongue), but it seems to be much more liberal now. If anything, there's probably a liberal/Democratic majority on Atlas these days.

Feingold, easily, although McCain would be a decent President, also.

Sigh, for all the time I've been here, I was told that it shifted to the center-right about the time I joined. It did make me wonder why candidates I favored often did so well in polls such as this one.

I'd vote for Feingold.

It'd be tough for ANY Democratic candidate to beat McCain.

I haven't been here for very long, but I feel like I can safely say that if there is a slant on this forum, it certainly isn't a conservative one.

There is a strong libertarian slant and a strong militant slant.  But it lacks the anti-science anti-civil liberties that would classify it as a "conservative" slant.

Oh and I vote for Feingold and he could win but it would take a LOT of work. =(

I hate political compass, so make what you will.  Definite libertarian edge, hard to tell left and right.  But the (-#, -#) are definitely the highest concentration of any of the 4 quadrants.

Feingold isn't your avergae liberal or politician. He isn't snobby nor a panderer An excellent orator and debater with a proven record in an era when moderates are struggling against the partisan tide.  This could end up in a Feingold win.
