Harper seems to be a genuinely intelligent (
if awkward) person rather than a talking point regurgiration machine. His governments were surprisingly okay, and not just compared to the bedlam down south. So it's him, I guess. On the other hand, PragerU... yuck.
On a related note, regarding Harper's leadership style, I'm convinced that his democratic centralism is why after his departure there was no clear successor and the party was stuck with duds (Scheer, O'Toole), washed-up apparatchicks (Mackay or worse*) or eccentric nutters (Bernier, Sloan, Lewis).
* remember when Tory and Charest were rumored to be running ahahaha
