Another incumbent losing? Probably not. I think Debbie will hold on.

This obviously isn't a question (DWS will easily win), but I'm voting for Perelman because DWS has been a horrible Congresswoman for us constituents (let alone her performance as a national-level politician), & I hope we can eventually find the Newman/Bowman to her Lipinski/Engel.

I know nothing about Schultz's primary challenger, but I do know that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is one of the worst Democrats in the House. Her tenure as Chair of the DNC was a disgrace, and I hope that she will be defeated by a worthy primary opponent in the future.

Conventional wisdom says DWS will win, but after what we saw with Lacy Clay, I would not be terribly surprised if Perelman somehow pulls off an upset.

Probably DWS, but I wouldn't count Perelman out. Goes without saying that she'd be a huge improvement.

How do you know? Many people were saying the same four years ago for Canova, only to discover later he was a right-wing nut posing as a Bernie bro.

If she switches it up and starts voting like a right winger once she's in Congress, the district will primary her out in two years. unless there's some sort of evidence that she's a secret conservative, I have no reason not to trust her on her merits. I'm not going to doubt every anti-establishment primary candidate just because one guy impersonated a leftist 4 years ago. The real question should be why are you going so hard for DWS?

It's almost like none of those people had a crystal ball allowing them to, y'know, see the future. But take it from one of DWS' *moderate* FL-23 constituents: on the basis of information that is available today, Perelman would be a huge improvement.

I can’t see her name without hearing Kate McKinnon saying “I’m Deborah Wasserman Schultz, hold for groans”.

DWS could be booted out by a competent primary challenge, but Perelman isn't that - at least, not in this cycle. She has 90k on hand and has raised 300k over the course of the campaign. DWS has 600k and has spent 1.5m.

Yeah, she feels like another of those "extremely online" primary challengers like Shahid Buttar.

Another example is Eliza Orlins in the Manhattan DA race. She promotes herself so much online you'd think she's the key challenger to Cy Vance, but he apparently has 5-10 people challenging him and she doesn't even usually get mentioned in articles about the race.

So because Schultz's previous challenger turned out to be a nut, you're assuming that her current primary challenger is the same (when all indications point to Perelman being a fairly generic Progressive Democrat)? That's pretty idiotic logic.

----

To answer the question, I think DWS will win rather easily.

Yeah, DWS' DNC Chair term was a disaster, and Hillary got blamed for her incompetence, which probably cost Dems the election. DWS will win, but she's one of few incumbents, who I'll support a primary against. But then again, I do worry about the optics of booting her for stuff that we wouldn't even know about if it wasn't for Wiki Leaks, that risks legitimizing Wiki Leaks. The answer, of course is to both boot DWS and ban Wiki Leaks from operating in the US, and that's the approach that I prefer. Though, I'm still expecting DWS to win easily.

HRC hired DWS right after she was pushed out of the DNC job. If we're going to chalk of all of this up to incompetence, her campaign actively chose to avoid much of the blame it could have by doing that.

No, what I'm saying is that perhaps some people should be more careful before turning largely unknown challengers into progressive heroes.

I'd like to see DWS retire or be primaried, but Perleman ain't it. She's absolutely awful. Agree with the previous poster who compared her to Shahid Buttar, very similar vibes.

Not really comparable even if she's a crap candidate. Buttar raised a lot more despite being a bit of a joke and even if there were credible challengers in both races, Pelosi would have been a more difficult opponent by several orders of magnitude. She has much more credibility than DWS in pretty much every constituency of the party - even people who admire what DWS is most famous for attempting aren't going to be fans of her incompetence, so it's much easier to imagine her losing a primary than the sitting Speaker of the House.

Anyways, DWS will win because 2020 hates us. I don't think it will be a blowout though.

DWS unsurprisingly wins. The majority of Dem votes are early because it's Florida and Trump.

Not shocked, but disappointed nonetheless.
