You can post the context all you want.  She still said it.  It's what she thinks of at lease one quarter of America.  "Out of the wellsprings of the heart the mouth speaks."  Her loathing of a huge swath of America came out in that statement.  The redeeming part of it is that at least she wasn't lying.

It's tough on virtue signalers like Hillary Clinton when they're exposed as more hateful than the people they're excoriating.

And she isn't wrong? She said they're homophobic and 49% of Republicans are homophobic, also Trump clearly ran a xenophobic and Islamophobic campaign, and his supporters did little to stop that.

Opposing gay marriage has ZERO to do with homophobia. I'm so sick of people with your nonsense definitions of hatred who don't know what actual hate positions are.

If anything the numbers go the opposite direction. Kind of like trying to use support or opposition to slavery as a judge of racism in the 19th century. I would wager that a number of people who are passively accepting of same sex marriage but are homophobic is far higher than the number of people who not homophobic but against same sex marriage. I run into it among younger millennial and Gen Z males all of the time at work. Gay people scare the hell out of them.

EDIT: I should also add that this thread has convinced me more than ever that most forumites have never actually spoken to other humans in Real Life^TM.
