The speed of this is very rapid. They didn't seem to deliberate very long before moving forward with the inquiry. I believe the reason Pelosi wants to go fast with the hearings is she knows the longer it goes on Americans will get sick of it and the non stop attention it is getting. I also don't believe the polls that it is tied or a majority favor it.

There are multiple high-quality polls that all show support for impeachment as approximately tied or a little above that.  But of course, you don't believe it -- not for any objective reason, but because you just don't want to.

This kind of thing is why almost nobody here takes you seriously.

No.

The Ukraine scandal is pretty straightforward and public opinion is changing swiftly in favor of impeachment.

Most polls had Hillary winning by 4-5 pts and she won the popular vote by 2. The polls in MI, WI and PA were wrong. The polls in Florida were mostly wrong too.

Whether it's tied or a plurality, it's clear that the Democrats unified on this one to cause a significant shift in the polls.

Normally, I'd say yes, and I do wish the inquiry had waited to be used as a final resort either precisely before the election, or precisely the week before the 6 year-itch comes into play.

But since Trump keeps shooting himself in the foot...

See the last line in my original response.

ETA: If you don't trust the polls, then stop starting a new thread every time Trump's average approval goes up a point.  You're not consistent; you only like the polls when they're favorable to Trump.  Again, this is why nobody takes you seriously.

I think it's in the very early stages. I firmly believe the longer this goes on the more dirt will come out on democrats and will muddy the waters. That is why Pelosi wants to rush I think.

The 2016 election was more of a failure by conventional wisdom that presumed Trump couldn't win than by polling (which nationwide was closer to the popular vote margin than in 2012 when it underrated Obama).

Not at all. The fact that an impeachment inquiry wasn't taken up after the Mueller Report shows clear restraint on Pelosi's part. The fact that Trump himself is directly involved with this Ukraine matter and the fact that there is a whistleblower makes this impeachment inquiry very credible with the public. There was no need to not move quickly. The public clearly thinks that something is very wrong here.

I don't think the public understands it. I think the fact democrats are launching "an impeachment inquiry" it hurts Trump in the short term because the optics look bad, but the longer it goes on the more dirt could come up on the democrats and the less that gets done the public will get restless. Moderates want cooperation between two parties.
