Yep. Fair is fair. Republicans have no right to complain after Trump.

No, he shouldn't, but if he does Republicans don't get to whine.

Why not just appoint him a special advisor to the President & waive the requirement for a security clearance while you're at it?

Might be good to wait and see if he actually gets charged with anything first. But yeah if Trump pardons his kids, hard to see how you could go after Biden without also going after Trump. 🤷‍♂️

 In the real world no.

If Trump tries and issues blanket pardons to family members than yes because that's the precedent the Republican Party set.

It would not be as execrable as Trump pardoning himself, but it would be a terrible thing to do, and Biden would never, ever do it even if Hunter did something that would be subject to a pardon, because he is a decent man, so while the question may be interesting, it has no potential to become anything other than a hypothetical question.

Yup, he should claim it's partisan and illegal/rigged witch hunt!

Just kidding, no he shouldn't for obvious reason. It just makes the impression certain people are above the law.

If he broke the law, he broke the law. There’s no purpose served by pardoning him.

Sure if he wants to, but then don't complain about Trump's pardons if he does that.

No, nobody is above the law.

Hunter should be held accountable for his actions. And I'm saying this as the biggest Joe Biden hack. His family seems very fine, but Hunter is a total mess.

I could see Trump including a pardon of Hunter in his pardons of his family. It would both give him a chance to appear magnanimous without any cost to himself and mute (tho only among Republicans) complaints about him using the pardon power to benefit himself. Plus, it essentially spikes any chance of Hunter refuting the allegations, so it keeps them politically useful.

Not yet. Maybe if he gets to enter an "I don't give a f***" phase of his presidency, he might as well. I doubt that President Biden would ever actually do that though.

Has Hunter been convicted of something?

If so, then no, Biden should not pardon him. But there is only an investigation going on so this is premature. In any case, Biden needs to be careful of public "perception." Let Hunter pay for his own karma if he did anything wrong. Daddy should not save him.

Is the issue a pre-emptive one? Because Hunter Biden hasn't been charged, tried and convicted of anything

No, nobody is above the law.

Hunter should be held accountable for his actions. And I'm saying this as the biggest Joe Biden hack. His family seems very fine, but Hunter is a total mess.

Hunter has involved Joe in his mess; how could he not have.  The questions are (A) when and (B) to what degree.

Hunter wouldn't have his "mess" if he didn't have influence with Joe to dangle out there.  That's something Biden's defenders avoid; the fact that influence with Joe Biden is the only thing Hunter has to offer.  He's not a business whiz or a legal whiz; he's a guy with an influential Dad.  "The Big Guy".

At a minimum, Joe Biden has failed to preserve the appearance of impropriety.  Now before the Cackling Mob gangs up on this quote (and the usual suspects are bound to cackle), I've called out Trump for not always avoiding the APPEARANCE of impropriety, so I don't see the problem when I call Biden out on this.  It's Joe's own fault that he's in the situation he's in at this point.  He did not have to be Obama's "point man" on Ukraine policy.  The fact that he was in that role is what gave Hunter something to offer people who were willing to hire him at Burisma.  Hunter's not that good a lawyer and he knew little to nothing about energy or Ukraine.

He can't pardon Hunter, just like Trump couldn't preemptively pardon Don Jr, there is no case yet, and there probably won't be a case unless there is a call for Special Counsel and D's control the House. But, there was a Special Counsel case in Don Jr, Don Jr can be Prosecuted
