In this alternative primary election, Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole declines to run for the nomination of the Republican Party to the 1996 presidential election.
I made a list of people who, among other things, declared their candidacy for the republican nomination in 1996 as well as people who were mentioned as possible contenders for the nomination but who declined to run, and some vice presidential nominees for Dole before he selected Jack Kemp.

I'd probably have gone with James Baker tbh. He wasn't perfect but he was a good Secretary of State.
