This bill releases violent criminals.

It is not targeted at mythical "non-violent drug offenders"

It releases violent criminals.

I actually am a little bit surprised, even given how overwhelmingly leftist this board is, that everyone just accepts this bill.

I would have thought some liberals still oppose violent crime.

I was wrong though. This just confirms the thesis that modern leftism's overarching principle is knee jerk opposition to societal norms.

No other reason to be pro-crime.

Everyone is against violent crime.

Being in favor of more flexible case-by-case sentencing, increased access to rehabilitation programs, and a reduction of the obscene crack-powder cocaine discrepancy is not “pro-crime.”

If you’re looking for someone whose guiding principle on policy is a knee jerk reaction, perhaps you should check a mirror.

Is this a good bill or has it been watered down to please cocaine Mitch and other right-wingers?

Feinstein opposed (and Harris didn't endorse) a criminal justice reform, Proposition 47, that passed with 60% of the vote and even Newt Gingrich supported. So I wouldn't just ask about Republicans here.
Cool story bro, do you ever post anything that isn’t about you being anti Democrat establishment. Especially when people like you are at fault for the other side doing worse.

Anyone defending Feinstein is exactly why politics in this country totally sucks.

You weren't even talking about this particular bill. You can still dislike Feinstein for some of her policy positions but resent people who bring it up all the time, even when it's not about the topic at hand. At that point it looks like you're constantly trying to steer conversations towards people you strongly dislike. Somehow you still don't get this.

I would have voted against it solely because we’re handing Trump a political victory. It must be about fighting Trump and nothing else.

Well, given that Trump is not going to sign the bill, I wouldn't see a problem with that. It would not have made a difference now, anyhow.

Thank god you're nowhere near elected office then.

Not surprising. Some of the typical suspects like Gohmert, Gosar, King, and Wilson are on that list. It seems like it was the most conservative Republicans, and many of the southern ones, who voted against it. Every single Alabama Republican voted against the bill, which seems to be a reminder of that state's segregationist past. I also see that at least one Mississippi Republican (Palazzo) voted against it as well. Moreover, in addition to Wilson, two other South Carolina Republicans (Norman and Sanford) also voted against it, which is something, given that the state's black Republican Senator Scott was a major advocate for it and helped to craft it.

Since when is Trump not going to sign the bill?

Well he is capable of changing his mind based on the last person he either spoke to, or how it is received on Fox News.

Which begs the question -how is Fox News reacting to this?

I made a mistake. I was thinking of the impending government shutdown when I made this response. Of course Trump is going to sign this bill, but not the continuing resolution. My response would have been more appropriate for that.
