But, sure I do think that if someone is sufficiently in disagreement with me (say by being a Nazi) that can be sufficient grounds for thinking them to be a Horrible Person. But Beet is a centrist democrat, so...

Yeah, I think that's what makes people vote HP here. Beet's semi-hysterical insistence that the Lybians and other protesters in the region are disastrous to US interests, the vanguard of islamism,... are something I think many people vehemently disagree with here.

He is quite bleak and alarmist. (frequently with good reason, sometimes not) That said he is a valuable contributor and puts his views out their for debate.  FF.

Yet he doesn't do better than Opebo who goes even further (insisting that the protesters be killed) and who's disagreeable in so many other ways too.

Anyway, I've read several of Beet's posts and he doesn't come across as semi-hysterical. He seems to make an empirical judgement of the outcome of these uprisings which he shares with a lot of analysts and politicians around the world. I would be very hard-pressed to consider someone horrible for disagreeing with me on an empirical issue that I don't really know anything about.

But, again, that might be just me.

Since I disagree with him on some things, HP.

No, wait, I don't actually reason that way. FF.

Err...Opebo?

I'm not totally sure what you mean, but my dislike for Opebo has more to do with his intellectual dishonesty, arrogance and rude debate tactics than the fact that he's an evil and sexist old creep.

Wow, how many death points did the troika give you for that comment?  Wink

Don't worry, he probably won't get any, but I have dutifully reported it.

I will also publicly ask here that the moderator (who I believe is the creator of this poll) remove the offending post and give Gustaf the legally prescribed amount of death points.

I'm not totally sure what you mean, but my dislike for Opebo has more to do with his intellectual dishonesty, arrogance and rude debate tactics than the fact that he's a wonderful human being. The latter part has really become more apparent lately (I didn't actually know that he salivated at the thought of butterflies on the wind until fairly recently) so it has little to do with my original contempt.

Actually the part Mikado edited isn't the part I found to be a 'personal attack'.  I objected to the 'intellectual dishonesty, arrogance and rude debate tactics'.

But you recoil at the thought of censorship! I had no idea you were so sensitive and thin-skinned.

I would never report someone who called me arrogant. I have been called arrogant without reporting it.

If we are to live in an environment of censorship I wish to participate as a citizen of such an society, gaining all rights and benefits as well as the death penalty which no doubt awaits us all in the end.

How do you gain from playing along with the system? I thought you supported workers  rising up against injustice and killing their leaders? (as long they aren't really poor or dark-skinned of course)

Why be a tool of the owners and try to hurt your fellow slaves of the forum?

For context, this is what Beet is referring to as "being touched with consent":

By Beet logic Harvey Weinstein also did nothing wrong and always had consent too.
