He'll have a positive effect on Democratic turnout, but he might also energize certain segments of the GOP base.

Overall, it'll probably be a wash. It's hard to tell.

Help in the suburbs, hurt in most rural places where the deplorables still consider him literally the Anti-Christ.

He was there for all the mass shootings offering concillatory messages, which go a long way with his message about bringing people together at the McCain funeral, it will only help Gillum

He hurts of course. He is the reason Trump won mostly.

Depends where, but I expect him to campaign strategically. He's not gonna show up to West Virginia or something, he's not an idiot.

He should endorse and campaign for Morrisey. I'm not even joking. Why not? It's not like Racist WV Hicks are smart enough to figure out the reverse psychology.

Obama has a 63% approval rating. Trump's at 39.9%. You do the math. Smiley

Minorities like GILLUM, Abrams and Garcia need Obama, as opposed to Bredesen. Those were GOP strongholds, and now, with McCain's untimely death, with his shadow of unity, Dems can win

Mixed effect, though I expect him to pop up in places where we would help. So on balance, probably help.

Republicans love absolving themselves from their responsibility of creating Trump. FYI, Obama would have crushed Trump if he was eligible for a third term.

Hurt.

Otherwise Governor A. Brown would be soaring to re-election right now in Maryland.

Normally I would say that this type of thing doesn't really matter, but I could see him having an impact on the base and maybe a few Obama-Trump voters.

Depends where-I think he helps in states like CA, NV, VA, NJ, and NY. Likewise with Rust Belt states like Ohio and Michigan. Also anywhere where there is a large black population as well.

I think he is a tricky proposition for candidates like Bredesen who need high black turnout but can't afford pissing off conservadems or Southern moderates.

Obama is one of the greatest post-war presidents and will only be an asset. I didn't always agree with him but I never doubted his intentions.  I hope we all learned a lesson in 2016.

The point of Obama campaigning isn't that a random undecided voter in the district will watch the rally and then support candidate X but rather that it brings a lot of money/attention and a decent crowd for congressional candidates.

Obama did one campaign for Northam in 2017, but it gave Northam a lot of press attention that frankly he couldn't generate himself.

People like Amy McGrath, Dan McCready won't need Obama- but he'll be able to help a fair few people running.
