They'll split down the middle between Rauner and McCann.

No. Ives voters will split between Rauner, McCann, and Kelly. Pritzker will easily defeat Rauner.

Kelly probably won't even be a factor. Most voters prefer independents over third parties.

Kelly (C) appears on the ballot as an independent because the Constitution party doesn't have ballot access in Illinois.

The question is what kind of campaign will Kelly run. If it reminds anyone of the Constitution Party, he's not going to pick up voters.

Kelly was originally going to primary Rauner, but decided to run third party to not spoil Ives' chance in the primary.

Obviously Rauner, but I think a decent junk of them will just stay home. Nevertheless, it's an uphill battle of Rauner. Sadly, one of the very few good Republicans running this year.

Reminder that Illinois's petition process is fairly difficult, especially for third parties. Kelly will almost certainly not be on the ballot in November, McCann is 50-50.

Kelly probably has or will have the signatures to get on the ballot as an independent. The past two gubernatorial races had at least one third-party candidate on the ballot.

I agree (though I have it closer to lean than safe) but what was the point of including that?

Kelly is collecting signatures for his own petition. If the party doesn't collect enough signatures, Kelly might still get enough to make the ballot as an independent. If the party gains ballot access, the ticket is Kelly/Koppie. If not, the ticket is Kelly/Leggero.
