New poll since he's been defeated in the election.

He had a bad start and took over in a very difficult situation. Over time, he became more rational and actually implemented some fair policies. (Mild) Freedom fighter.

Traitor, coward, loser - good riddance to trash!

He wasted loads of money on F-16's, aligned himself with Netanyahu and Trump, cracked down on protesters. Terrible guy, hasn't done a single thing for his voters. He's still much better than the alternative but I hope he's disgraced and forced out of politics forever.

Turned his back on the people. Might as well be center-right.

However, his defense of Maduro's Venezuela leaves a big stain.

That is the only good thing about him.

As opposed to users defending murderous dictators like Maduro in this thread?
I only saw a single user defend Maduro in this thread. I myself would certainly not defend him.

Just like Hugo Chavez, could've gone out a hero...decided to be a villain instead.

Tsipras was never a hero, he was a bumbling sellout from day one. Granted, it only became clear after the ****show of a referendum, but still.

To the American leftists who think he is a traitor because he did not end Austerity: In 2015 during the Crisis he had to decide between the Bailout package and declaring Insolvency and Grexit. The latter would have been one of the most catastrophic decisions for a government to take. If you want to blame somebody, blame Germany/ECB who imposed the Austerity package, or the Governments before him who cooked the books and refused to fix the roof when the sun was shining. But Tsipras took what was the comparatively far less bad decision for his Country, against the resistance from much of his party, and when Greece has had fiscal room again he raised the minimum wage and cut taxes, to try alleviate the pain.
From kicking out squatters on the streets, to the dumb decision to coalition with EL, and finally to not bring about Marriage equality, I and many other leftists will continue to hold our reservations to Tsipras and the failures of Syriza in bringing out actual change. Heck, just a couple months ago they let wealthy folks move their money offshore.

Naive fool and that's putting it fairly charitably. I also dislike him for being one of the arguments behind the 'See! Hard-leftists CAN be electable' arguments during 2015 which lumbered my country with a senile old fool as opposition leader. So thanks for that Alexis.

Even if there may have been a tiny bit of that, he can hardly be blamed...

You are right of course, but after nearly 4 years of it I'm willing to blame anyone with even the tiniest amount of responsibility for the current sh**tshow that is Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition. Call it petty.

FF. He tried to take on the powers that be and failed rather tragically, but Greece is more stable than it was. He ended up likely taking a better approach than we would have seen from the center-right, so I guess Greece is better for the Syriza years.

Judging Tsipras is very hard for me. On balance, I see more negative than positive aspects. However, he has governed Greece under extremely harsh circumstances. Tsipras suffered a brutal extortion and was forced to accept the austerity package. I invite you to search certain statements made recently by Jean-Claude Juncker, regretting the lack of solidarity of Europe towards Greece. I can't call him a traitor, but there are certain disgusting things around Tsipras pointed already in this thread. I'd say lean HP, but I'll restrain myself to vote.
