Realistically, no. I would sooner bet Ted Kennedy getting nominated by Democrats. And he doesn't need to run for the position because he already has it right now.

No, and people already dislike him even more than Bush.  He's not really personable, lacks charisma, and has major health issues.  He is a good policy maker, but would be a terrible, terrible candidate.

If he runs, he would have a very good chance at getting the nomination. However, pretty much 99% of the Republican party doesn't think he will run.

In other words, people like Bush for superficial reasons.

People like a lot of politicians for superficial reasons.  The more personable they are, the better.  That's how Clinton managed to get a >60% approval rating during the Monica incident.  It's never going to be entirely a matter of political ability or positions.  Just like it is with - you know - real people.

Fezzyfestoon pretty much hits the nail on the head - Cheney is a bit, erm, coarse for the American public.

Cheney would have a fair chance at the GOP nomination, but he'd bomb in a general election, that is so long as the Dem was credible or even if only barley.

No.  He won't run, if he did he wouldn't get the nomination, if he did get the nomination he wouldn't win the general, and if he won the general he'd die within 2 months of taking office from heart attacks.  So, he has some obstacles.

No.

The GOP would not nominate him  for President.

He is a tremendously effective and powerful Vice President, and an extremely gifted administrator, and sound with policy.

He's who you need in the board room to push your company ahead.

But the Republican Party would not nominate him if he ran, which he is not going to do.

I believe Cheney was already asked about this. And I believe he quoted Sherman.

The ONLY way Cheney would get the nomination is if he makes a damn good running mate choice.

Wouldn't he make a running mate choice after he got the nomination?  If he did it before it would look quite tacky.

I don't think that's what he meant, and that doesn't appear to be very likely.

I don't know. A lot of people hate Bush, and the Secret Service doesn't seem very competent. What ****ing idiot saw nothing wrong with the president of the United States riding in an open-top limousine? And nothing seemed to stop Hinckley from putting a bullet in Reagan.

He won't run, but if he did his chances would be bad. He's just the kind of guy you like to have on your team. He's smart and intuitive but he's way too aloof and all business to run for President. Also exceedingly polarizing, for whatever reason. People look at him and see a qualified person and so forth, but I don't think they see someone they'd like to have as President. I'd be perfectly comfortable with him as President, but it won't happen and he'd have one heck of a fight for the nomination.

I don't think Cheney would have a serious chance of getting the nomination, and I don't think he'll run.

He's more of a technocrat than politician.

Cheney would easily win the nomination if he chose to seek it.

Yeah I agree, though I doubt he will run.

There is a slight chance.  He is a very good debator.
