Opinion of Governor Bruce Rauner (R-IL)?


Honestly, I give him a (mild) FF. He's a moderate hero and seems to be a decent guy. I don't agree with all of his policies, though some of his proposals are not bad. I think the main problem of the Illinois deadlock is Speaker Madigan and his cronies and not the governor, who seems to be willing to compromise. Rauner is also a moderate on social issues.

This is not directed at Johnson (since it is posted 20 times a day), but this is the most triggering statement in the english language because all it means is you know absolutely nothing about their policies and proposals, but you want to sound informed. You are simply talking about his persona which is super rich business Republican which doesn't offend your neoliberal sensibilities too much, so nice guy

Agreed. I voted third party as a protest vote in 2014 (I knew Rauner was a fraud then) and now I'm starting to regret not voting for Quinn.

Well, for starters, what reason would I have to vote for Rauner? I neither oppose unions nor support the death penalty. Rauner isn't any different from the Democrats on abortion. He's the quintessential upscale suburban special interest liberal Republican candidate. He really has nothing to offer me. As Santander said, the best thing he has going for him right now is not being Mike Madigan. On the other had, I don't agree with Pat Quinn on much, but there's nothing about him that makes him a particularly egregious Democrat. Heck, by modern Democrat standards, Pat Quinn is practically a Blue Dog.
