Is best when the country had most international influence? Best economically? Best socially? Best morally? I don't know what best means. Keeping it as generic as possible and incorporating all of those concepts, I voted the Clinton years, despite us improving since then in some areas, but declining in others. With Trump, we are certainly declining in all of these areas, possibly for the foreseeable future.
Yeah, this question is really vague. My answer would depend heavily based on the criteria that we are using to judge. I agree that the Clinton years are a decent enough compromise among all these factors, though it is rather unsatisfying to imagine that that was the apex of the United States.
The question was deliberately somewhat vague, so as to allow commenters to interpret as they wish, but I am glad to see so many people are selecting "best days are yet to come".
