They lost my luggage for two months, the seats are uncomfy as ever, and everyone's so rude. It's a bus with wings, but without the low price to justify it.

So yeah, HP.

I've been boycotting them for four years. Just glad to see everyone else getting with the program. Smiley

Company with fantastic history and is getting better post-Smisek, even if they're sadly no longer at 77 West Wacker. Chicago's hometown airline and the heir to Pan Am's Asia network and Continental's Micronesia network. The airline that took me around the world multiple times over. The picture of the United 747 landing at Saigon, the first American airliner since the war, pulls at the heartstrings of every hopeless romantic aviator like me.

And of course, Rhapsody in Blue.

Doug Parker's American is, of course, the better-run company.

I'm obligated to say FC because they're flying me home from Los Angeles next month.

That's Virgin America really, JetBlue's just the consolation prize.

I evaluate this situation looking at United's policies separately from how the flight crew handled the situation. This flight crew really didn't handle this properly. They shouldn't have called the cops, they should have moved onto someone else, and they really should have found a way to get the workers to Louisville another way without screwing over their passengers.
But just as easy as a flight crew can be bad, they can also be outstanding. My last United flight, I was switched onto a flight from Toronto to Chicago that was delayed 12 hours. The crew was sitting around waiting all day, and I can understand how much that sucks. But they were outstandingly nice when we got on. There were only 15 of us on the flight, so they invited us up to sit in first class and offered us full free beverage service. They even offered me a second scotch and soda. So for every dumb person who can't handle tough situations, there is someone who will go above and beyond to be nice, and we should really give them credit for that.
As an airline, its tough. The flying experience is probably average to below-average. But they get the job done. I think overbooking is a crime, but every airline does it, so I will blame the industry not the company. I will keep flying United because it makes the most sense out of Chicago. But I guess I will give them a lean FC.

You have American for crying out loud, and you have Southwest at Midway for heaven's sake!

I do not know too much about this other than what I read from the Chinese language press who are up in arms about this.  They are overreacting as usual.  I feel that UA are well within their rights including using the police to remove customers from their property so the plane can take off.  Weather that is a good business move is another question.  They should have just offered more money for people to volunteer to take the next flight.   That would have saved them from a lot of bad publicity for a small sum of money relative to what they will lose now in terms of lost business.  I personally rarely travel  by air domestically so it has been at least a decade since I flown with UA.

What'd they do that was so wrong? It was the TSA thugs, not the airline who beat the poor man.

Slow down, Satander, I'm sure the DEA will get a no knock warrant to search your property soon.

Worse than Hitler for the way the federal government, not the airline itself, acted in one of their airports in one instance.

In all seriousness, the way the TEA and other agencies refuse to work for the airlines is bad. When public servants work with airports and businesses rather than for them, it generally results in abuse of power and unnecessary actions. Perhaps if they worked under/for the airlines as their public servants, then we would see better work by the airlines and the agencies in general.
