The presence of Charles Blow and Paul Krugman pushes the New York Times into lean Freedom Paper territory. For me, it will never be a full FP.

I used to read it religiously when I lived in NJ. It's gotten worse since.

I used to be a big fan from like 2008-2010. Had stopped reading it completely in 2014. Now i just share Bret Stephens' articles.

WaPo's been a lot better these days, but it's still a good outlet. FP.

Well, it's the paper I subscribe to, so I have to vote FP. Though it does have problems.

better than the average paper

They have standards and tend to meet them and it's a big deal when they don't.  Like the military.

There, did I piss off everybody yet?

The New York Times is the best major newspaper today. It has high quality news and employs one of the best economists in the world, Paul Krugman, as one of its columnists. It is much better than the Washington Post, which often acts as a neoliberal (in Robert Samuelson's case, neoconservative), elitist defense of free trade. The Washington Post also has conservative nuts Charles Krauthammer and George Will as two of its main columnists.
