The first presidential election that I was able to vote in was the 2000 race (I turned 16 in 1997).

I intended to vote for George W Bush...but I believe I accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan.  Don't ask me how THAT happened, LOL.

Oh were you in Florida?  I heard those ballots they had in 2000 caused a lot of people to vote for Pat Buchanan.

At the time, I was.  It was...confusing, to say the least.

I tell you then those ballots they had in 2000 must have confused a lot of people.  Whoever designed those clearly wasn't selected to design the ballots of following elections.  I believe there might  have been legislation passed

To follow up on my previous post, the first election I was aware of was 2004, when I adopted the family stance of being pro-Kerry.  In 2008, I was not too knowledgeable on the stances of the parties and candidates, but was a hardcore Edwards man, even after the scandal broke.  Being an elementary schooler, I didn’t understand that what he did was indeed bad and backed him to the end.  After that I suppose I was for Obama, but I don’t remember that too well aside from an English class where we had to choose a candidate to defend and I was on the Democratic side, implying I made a conscious choice for him over McCain.  In 2012, I was annoyed with Obama for some reason and was in favor of Rocky Anderson for president.  I don’t recall if my support for Jon Huntsman was actual support or if he was just my favorite or the Republicans.  2016 was the first election I could vote in, and I supported Webb from the start.  When he dropped out, I went to Graham and then I think Kasich.  I ended up voting for Kasich, but not very enthusiastically.

In a way, all of these were my first election in that I was more informed than in the election before
