I wonder if Dubya will go after Donald Trump too?

That'll be enough to sink Marco Rubio for good and get a distant third.

Unless the media spins his 4th place finish as "the comeback kid"

Would you be more or less likely to vote for Ted Cruz if you knew his father fought for Fidel Castro?

I'm not certain Dubya will have a significant impact. I know polls show that he is the most popular Republican, but most of that positivity comes from nostalgia. His presence could provoke voter fatigue. He was President for 8 years, and his father was President for 4 years and Vice-President for 8 years. Therefore, the Bush family has been in office for 20 years since 1980.

Might not voters feel a figurative indigestion at the thought of a Jeb Bush presidency?

I don't think GHWB will be much of a factor if the Bush's did bring back bad thoughts. He was only president for 4 years almost a solid 25 years ago, or a whole generation. GWB on the other hand, well, he might be more toxic than I think Jeb realizes.

But, I guess this is really all Jeb has left if he wants to win. Personally, though, I don't think he gets how bad GWB hit the GOP. His presidency is one of several major reasons why Millennials deserted the Republican party a decade ago. Toting him around again will not help him or the GOP with young(er) voters at all, which is slightly foolish long-term because the longer they continue to lose the youth/Millennial vote, the worse their electoral fortunes will be when those voters grow up and vote very reliably Democratic in downballot races.

I think what's more interesting is that we seem to have reached the point in time where Dubya feels like he can rear his head and campaign for someone in public now.

Most Republicans feel Dubya's administration, as flawed as it was, was light years better than the current administration and he knows that if the voters had to choose between a Bush dynasty or a Clinton dynasty, they would likely choose another Bush especially since Clinton will likely continue the same catastrophic Obama policies in the eyes of most Republicans.  They sure as hell don't want a socialist.

I was talking about Republican voters.  How many Republican voters do you know who think Obama was better than Dubya or think that the Clintons are better than the Bushes or want socialism to poison the country?

Jeb!'s last name has already made him toxic, his brother can't make things much worse than they already are.  Better to just play to your strengths to have a chance at winning the primary (then almost certainly get buried in the general) than to be some milquetoast loser who isn't defined by anything.
