Which candidate from each party would be most likely to receive the VP spot if not able to win the actual nomination?

I'd go with Sanders & Rubio.

O'Malley and Rubio.  O'Malley by process of elimination for the Democrats, and Rubio seems most willing to play second fiddle.

Rubio and O'Malley both have the same brand.  They semi-nervously explain the basic ideas of their party without ever taking any intra-party risks or showing real leadership or capability to inspire.

Yeah. I answered O'Malley and Graham (who reminds me of Cheney with his hawkishness) for the title question.

John Kasich is playing the role of attack dog already. He's from a key swing state, he has a long resume, and he can attract white, working class voters and political moderates who weren't too kind to McCain & Romney.

O'Malley and Graham; Sanders/O'Malley vs. Kasich/Graham would be awesome.
