So many candidates in such a small space. Imagine if, for example, Walker and Fiorina just happened to end up in line for the deep-fried butter sticks together without realizing it.

Looking at those pictures, I wonder if Jeb or Marco flipped one of the pork chops that Hillary or Trump ate.

Why is it all pork chops, by the way? Does the fair itself promote pork more heavily, or is it just a more presidential meat that candidates are drawn to?

Iowans take a great deal of pride in their pork. They are the nation's largest hog producing state and account for about 1/4 of all US pork. It's that pride and the recognition of that prominent industry in IA that made Ernst's famous ad so effective.

A good day for Cruz at the fair. He's been running neck and neck with Fiorina all week but today opened up an almost 50 vote lead. On the Dem side Hillary has been rebuilding her advantage all week and is almost back to 50%, but the last weekend was good for Bernie and we'll see if the this weekend's turnout is like last.

Current results:

Bernie and Carson doing great; Bush lagging. I love how Everson has three times as many votes as Gilmore.

Strong showing for O'Malley. I figured he'd write off Iowa and focus on New Hampshire, but he might be able to beat Webb for third with these numbers at a state fair straw poll.

LOL. Smiley

Now imagine Walker in a presidential debate against Obama! (Even Romney was near chanceless in their last two head-to-heads when Obama was well-prepared.)

Is Obama running for a third term?

No, but it would have been funny to picture this no-nothing pitched against the greatest debater US has seen since John F. Kennedy. Wink
