Epic FF.

It's not many times I say this for a conservative, but FF.

Well, de Gaulle said many times he doesn't want to be idenfitied either as "right-wing" nor "left-wing" and, while there were important conservative characteristics about him, he was kind of a mix politically, if you study him deeper.

Of course, there were issues I disagree with him, but overall it's hard to deny him a title of a "good guy", if only for his WWII role (and I do not limit his positives there).

WWII and Algeria alone make him an FF, despite his faults.

Extremely flawed, but still FF overall.

And Kal, he definitely WAS right-wing. Many right-wingers try to avoid that label, he wasn't really unique in that.

As any figure of national or international significance, it's rather illogical to judge his entire life and career as one. He was, of course, an enormous figure in the fight for liberty in Europe and fully deserves his laurels. He must also be judged as President, and in that capacity he was a conservative, rather close-minded demagogue who seemed at times to flagrantly and dangerously buck the democratic process.
