9 Seasons. Some crappy, some less crappy, some even quite good. It all ended yesterday.

The show is one of my favorite sitcoms. The finale was horrible and I hate it and I'm still really mad.

It would have been good if we got a meaningful scene with the mother's passing or Ted's grieving. Instead, it was like "so yeah kids your mum's dead, you think I can bang robin now? Ok". Seriously, pacing in this series was freaking weeeird.

Barney's bit at the end was cute though.

Good interview with Josh Radnor on Marc Maron's WTF podcast yesterday.

I liked the show. Didn't mind the finale because I wasn't really attached deeply to the program. It was okay. I'll probably catch up with the series on Netflix at some point.

I would say that they made up the finale in about ten minutes, but since they've been planning this since the beginning, wow.  Just wow.  I didn't hate it.  I don't know how I feel about it.  It did surprise me at first though, but I think it makes sense.  I don't really think Barney and Robin were ever going to work out, and it's not surprising that Barney would revert to his old ways after that break up.

This show is my least favorite of all the shows I watch(ed), and I thought the Finale was great and appropriate.

The one thing that I think we can all agree on is that the finale essentially rendered the final season useless. I thought that was good, because I found the final season pretty terrible while watching it.

They should have just ended the show after season 8. Season 9 was clearly the least funny, and completely pointless. Or they could have just had Ted met the mother at the end of season 8 and season 9 could have been the first year they dated.

Overall, I'm meh on the finale. It was stupid to spend 8 years explaining how Ted and Robin weren't meant for each other and then just throw it out the window. It also would have been stupid to have him still pining away Robin throughout seasons 7-9 just to have him end up with the Mother after all -- who would tell their kids the "story about how I met your mother" but have it actually just be "I really love this other woman" over and over unless it was a setup for "I'm going to try for her heart now." ?

I think they really dropped the ball on the finale, but I wouldn't go anywhere near as far as most of the Internet has gone in response to the episode.
