On the Midwest Bank Chair:

Good night, citizens of the Midwest.

In one of the best examples of innovative legislation, the Althing passed an act creating a Bank of the Midwest a few weeks ago. As you know, such Bank is to be presided by a Chair appointed by the Governor. I was supposed to appoint a Chair a long time ago, but I decided it was for the best to take my time and interview several prospective candidates, many of which did impressed me a lot.

In the end, and after meditating a lot, I have finally made my decision.

Gass has quite a distinguished record in Atlasia, and I already had the occasion of working with him back in days at the Mideast Assembly. I wanted to see a Bank Chair willing to be active and do something innovative with such an interesting position, and Gass seemed like a great choice to me, even if we could disagree on some minor issues. I am aware of Gass being the Labor Vice-Presidential nominee, but I don't feel that his most recent run for office should affect this in any way, as it was decided before the announcement. I won't have much time to work with him given how little time I have left as Governor, but I look forward to having him as our Regional Bank Chair. Congratulations, Bank Chair Gass!

LumineVonReuental, Midwest Governor.

Thank you very much, Senator!

Nothing better than a socialist to lead a public bank! Wink

Even more ironic coming from me, I guess (xD). Still, Gass is more than qualified for the position, I trust him to do an excellent job.

Thank you, Mr. Archduke. It is with great pleasure that I sign today my pet project for the Midwest, the new High Speed Rail, which I believe will prove decisive in the years to come. And same goes for the tuition bill passed by the Althing, a great idea to provide more help to college students.

Probably my last signed bill, it does make me a little bit nostalgic...

A Farewell:

The Governor's office in Cheesewhiz, Vitality.

Good day, Citizens od the Midwest.

A few hours ago, Windjammer swore-in as the new Governor of the Midwest, thus ending my term, which lasted from September 2013 to February 2014 (so close to March...). It was a very long time for me, and perhaps the most significant time I lived in Atlasia. Back in August/September I made three promises to the people of this region: Activity, Responsibility and no partisan hackery. Despite the occasional mistakes with the voting booths and such, I think I accomplished those promises, for the Midwest has faced significant growth thanks to the efforts of several Midwesterners.

Today I leave this office, thread that started back in June, when the dissapearance of an Archduke opened a new chance for a politician who had suffered a humillating defeat in the Mideast Assembly. I will always be grateful for this opportunity to start again that the people of the Midwest gave to me, but the time has come to step aside and let new people to rule this Most Serene Republic. Win or lose in my Senate run, I shall open a new office and meditate about possible changes (perhaps I could move to a place more in need of active officeholders, I don't know), so today I formally close the place that served as my headquarters for so many months.

Best of luck to Governor Windjammer, Archduke Arturo Belano and Representatives Adam, Cris and Brewer, I trust you to keep doing a fine job!
